Michael Jackson's daughter says she was inspired to be an actress after seeing her father in the film "Moonwalker."

"My dad was in the movie 'Moonwalker' and I knew he could sing really well, but I didn't know he could act," Paris Jackson told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, according to a transcript of the episode to air Thursday. "I saw that and I said, 'Wow, I want to be just like him.'"

Madonna Signs With Interscope Records

According to a report in the New York Post, the singer will continue the 10-year multi-rights deal with Live Nation -- said to be worth as much as $100 million -- that she signed in 2007, but has inked a three-album pact with Interscope at a base of $1 million per album. Billboard.biz's source could not confirm the terms of the deal at press time but said the report sounded right. Sources indicated to Billboard early last month that Madonna was likely to ink with Interscope

Freshman Haze: Stacy Barthe

For Stacy Barthe, the decision to become a songwriter came as easy to her as the skill itself. The New York native always had a knack for pairing the right words to the right melody, most of which were produced by her partners from the Surf Club -- consisting of Hit-Boy, Chase'N Cashe, Chilli Chil, B. Carr, and Kent M$ney. Before he became the man known for producing Jay-Z and Kanye West's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs No. 1 "Ni**as In Paris," Hit-Boy was sending his music to Barthe, who at the time was interning at Geffen (summer, 2003) and later, Jive (spring 2004 and fall 2005).

Little did Hit-Boy know that Barthe wasn't a label A&R but an aspiring artist much like himself. Instead of passing on Hit-Boy's music, Barthe wrote a song and sent it back to him. From then, Barthe, Hit-Boy, and the rest of the Surf Club have had a strong musical partnership

The Shins To Release 'Port of Morrow' Album in March

The Shins
Indie rock mainstays the Shins will return in March 2012 with "Port of Morrow," their fourth full-length and first album in over five years. The group released the album's 10-song track list and spooky cover art on Wednesday (Dec. 15).

Recorded in Los Angeles and their native Portland, Oregon in 2011, "Port of Morrow" was produced by Greg Kurstin, who recently worked with Foster The People on their debut album "Torches" and Kelly Clarkson on her fifth studio album "Stronger." The album will be released through singer James Mercer's Aural Apothecary label and Columbia Records, after the group split from its longtime label, Sub Pop, in 2008.

Famed singer-songwriter Carol King has been around the musical block, but she just recently dipped her toe into the world of holiday albums with the release of "A Holiday Carole" (get it?). The record, produced by her daughter louise Goffin, features traditional songs ("Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Carol of the Bells," "Sleigh Ride"), as well as original holiday tunes across an array of genres, from jazz to Latin. -- Jillian Mapes
